Looking for somewhere to take your doting Dad on Father’s Day (Sunday 21st June)? Take a look at some of the great Fatherly themed things taking place in East Devon & Dorset, you’ll find something for every kind of Dad.
The Daring Dad
Is your Dad the first family member to charge up a steep hill during a soft stroll? You’ll find some great activities designed for Dads that just can’t stay still, such as Fire and Arrows Day at Escot Park in Ottery St. Mary. Not only is it free entry for Dads when accompanied by a child, but there will be events taking place all day, suitable for all ages.
The Car Mad Dad
If your dad’s idea of fun is cars, cars, and even more cars - there are some great driving and motoring themed events happening across Devon this Father’s day.
Firstly, you will find the annual Jaguar and Classic Car show taking place in the historical grounds of Bicton Park, close to Exeter. Alongside examples of stunning cars of all ages and type, you’ll find plenty to see and do in the park itself. You could even treat Dad to lunch in the park’s fabulous Orangery restaurant that overlooks the gardens and show.
Seaton is already the perfect destination in Devon to visit any time of the year, with that in mind this next driving themed event could be right up your street (or Tramway!). Seaton Tramway will be offering Fathers a chance to experience what it’s like to drive one of their Trams; with the added bonus of receiving a £5 gift voucher. There will also be a great foodie opportunity for a Father’s Day roast at their Tramstop Café in Colyton - not to be missed.
The Festival Father
Father’s Day doesn’t just have to be celebrated on the Sunday; why not start early and make a weekend of it? That’s exactly what you could do if you head to Axe Vale Festival in Axminster in Devon. Starting on the Saturday, the festival will feature something for all of the family from Arts & Crafts to live music. There will be lots of kid’s activities taking place to keep the younger ones entertained and give Dads a well-earned break!
Dads and Beer
Don’t be fooled by the title, sadly this idea doesn’t involve pubs or alcohol. The picturesque fishing village of Beer is home to Pecorama, an attraction that includes a model railway and stunning gardens. This Father’s Day, Pecorama are offering free entry to dads and will have some extra special shows taking place at their Top Spot marquee.
